This book is a special edition derived from an earlier work in English entitled Comparing Federal Systems, 2nd edition, 1999, adapted in two ways. First, the text has been updated to include the current state of affairs in the variety of federations as of 2006. Secondly, where the earlier book focused particularly on lessons that Canadians could learn from other federations, this text looks at the general lessons that all federations can learn from each other.
